The château as it stands is the result of Foacier’s remodelling in the 1770s. Its classical idiom belongs to the Versailles tradition, transposed to the scale of an elegant country house.
A central main block rising over three storeys, flanked by two projecting wings; a triangular pediment at the centre of the façade; a French-style roof. Four mansard pavilions enclose the court of honour.
The whole follows a logic of symmetry and proportion: local stone, slate, regular bays and sober lines, a measured elegance, characteristic of French provincial classicism.
Edmond Duthoit, an architect renowned for his restoration of historic monuments, carried out major consolidation and restoration works. His intervention respects Foacier’s classical design while securing the structure: it is essentially the château from this campaign that you discover today.
