Private hire

Getting married in a château in the Allier

Celebrate your wedding in a classical 18th-century château in the Bourbonnais. Exclusive private hire, a 15-hectare park, up to 150 guests for the reception and 200 for an outdoor ceremony. One wedding per date, never two on the same weekend.

An exceptional place

Far from the “wedding factory” châteaux

The Château du Creux offers a rare setting: a classical château enlarged by an architect to the King from Versailles, a 15-hectare landscaped park along the Aumance and the authenticity of a family home that is still lived in, rather than a set emptied of all life between two receptions.

The château is hired privately only 8 to 12 times a year, never more than one wedding per weekend. Each event is prepared with the owners themselves, not with a venue manager working through files one after another: it is this difference, more than the number of hectares, that sets a lived-in house apart from a wedding château.

Capacities

Exclusivity

One wedding at a time, never two on the same weekend

Some châteaux host forty or fifty weddings a year, sometimes several on the same weekend in separate halls of the same estate. That is not how Le Creux works: between 8 and 12 dates a year, one wedding at a time, with no risk of crossing another wedding party or hearing the sound system of a neighbouring reception. This rarity has a counterpart: dates are booked long in advance, particularly Saturdays in high season, from May to September. It also has a direct advantage for the couple: the park, the court of honour and the reception rooms remain theirs alone, from the beginning to the end of the day.

Schedule

From the day before to noon the day after

Access to the estate begins the day before the wedding and ends at noon the following day, which leaves time to set up the decoration without rushing and to clear up gradually the next day rather than in a hurry that same evening. The Maison du Régisseur, for ten people, can house part of the wedding party or close family directly on site, with no journey home after the evening. The private car park, with 50 spaces, takes a good share of the guests arriving by car; beyond that, car-sharing or a shuttle organised by the couple remains the most practical solution, given the distance to accommodation in the area.

Weather

A plan B in case of rain

An outdoor ceremony or reception necessarily depends on the weather. The château’s reception rooms, as well as the court of honour, which can take a tent or marquee, offer a fallback in case of rain, to be planned with the owners while preparing the wedding rather than at the last minute. This is discussed in concrete terms during the visit of the estate, depending on the number of guests and the chosen format: civil ceremony, cocktail reception or seated dinner. No layout is fixed in advance on a standard plan.

Your suppliers

Free to choose

You are free to choose your suppliers: caterer, decoration, DJ or band, photographer. Nothing is imposed by the château, unlike some reception venues that require you to use a closed list of partner suppliers. We can recommend trusted professionals who know the place, its access and its technical constraints well: local caterers used to château kitchens, floral designers, DJs and bands, photographers specialising in heritage weddings. This freedom asks for a little more organisation on your side than a turnkey package, a trade-off readily accepted by couples who choose this kind of place rather than a turnkey reception hall.
