Nicolas-Martial Foacier never lived at the château: architect and draughtsman of the King’s Buildings at Versailles, he came here in 1775 at the request of François-Marie de Fougières, then owner of the estate. He did little to the château itself but designed everything around it: pavilions, successive courtyards, forecourt and entrance gates, one of the finest vistas in the Bourbonnais. Naming this suite after him, rather than giving it a number or a colour, ties the room to the precise history of the estate it sits in.
The Maison du Régisseur is the former residence of the estate steward, a few steps from the château but set back, like a self-contained building. Fully restored, it has five rooms, each for two people, with free access to the park.
The suite overlooks the park and the Aumance, which means evenings without traffic noise and mornings when the light comes in gradually through the large windows facing the garden. It suits a stay of several nights for anyone who wants to enjoy the park without hurrying, rather than a single-night stopover on a through route.
Is it suitable for a baby cot or a child?
An extra bed or a baby cot can be added on request, subject to the space available in the room: raise it when you book rather than on arrival.
Is the room accessible to guests with reduced mobility?
The Maison du Régisseur is spread over several levels with no lift, which may limit access depending on each person’s mobility. Please contact us before booking if this is a deciding factor.
Does the rate change with the season?
The rate is €150 a night for two people, breakfast included. For any special request, particularly during the shooting season, please contact us.
This guest room is part of the Maison du Régisseur, which can also be taken as a whole as a group cottage for ten people. The four other rooms are presented on the guest rooms at the châteaupage, and all the accommodation under Stay.
